Walk towards a Healthy life
“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
Miles to go before I sleep.”
- Robert Frost
This beautiful poem summarizes our lives these days. The hectic schedules that stop us from admiring the lovely track itself!
And in this rush, we forget that, apart from work and family our body too needs our attention.
A Healthy Walk
These days lifestyle has become so sedentary that we have almost no time to invest on our body. Exercising and yoga are nowhere in the scene. Even walking is being prescribed as a medicine by the doctor on the prescription slip. In fact, this problem has been brought into notice even by the famous Tata Indicom Ad of “Walk when you Talk”!
Walking by default is a part of human nature. It should not be taken as a substitute for exercise and yoga.
Infact the poor physician feels that something is better than nothing so at least one should start walking and keep his body moving.
One should remember the DO’s and DON’Ts while walking:
-
Always walk on grass track / mud track / synder track or synthetic track. Because the soft material under the foot works as shock absorber. Otherwise the shock is absorbed by the knee cartilage and the spinal discs. This leads to faster degeneration of these tissues.
-
Walking on the tread mills / roads / or on tiled track put extra burden on the soft tissues of the knee joint and spinal discs.
-
Always wear proper Footwear.
-
Walk should be done according to the ailment.
And most importantly, include walks in the daily routine. Our body needs all the help it can get, and the least we can do is ‘walk’ our troubles away.
