Right Footwear

They say that a woman can never have enough shoes!

Women compete worldwide to have the maximum number of shoes!

Nevertheless, apart from enhancing the outfit, shoes also play a part in cushioning the foot as well as keeping the posture right. Maximum nerve endings are present in our feet (which is perhaps why in jails, prisoners are hit by sticks on the soles of their feet!). But before I get too morbid, it is important to note, that we need to keep comfort and care before looks.

It is perceived that heels are bad while flats are best for our feet. Just like any philosophy in life, we need to practice moderation in the heels of our footwear as well! Neither high heels are good, nor are flats. The ideal height of shoes should be 1 inch. Remember “Moderation is the key to everything!”.

Remember the following three points before buying your Footwear:

  • Inch Heel: Footwear must have approximately one inch heel. Strictly avoid high heel and flat footwear. As they change the natural alignment of the bones and can lead to lower back pain, knee pain and heel pain.

  • Cushioned Sole: Heels bear more than 50 % of the body weight. Your footwear must have excellent cushioning specially under the heels. Proper cushioning of the sole prevents heel pain and significantly reduces pressure on the knee cartilage while standing, walking or running. The cushion of the footwear works as a shock absorber instead of the knee cartilage and vertebral discs.

  • Back Strap: Footwear must support the heel from the back. It significantly removes pressure on the calf muscles and foot sole which then results into reduced heaviness and stiffness in the legs. In case you are buying a footwear without back strap, assure that the above strap of the footwear is closer the ankle. It reduces load on the knee joint, calf muscles, and foot sole.
